A multiagent system involved in a single collective decision. It's the case of the elections in a democratic assembly (it can be also related to the forming process of the public opinion). The process of making decisions can be (and really it is in more than one occasion) influenced by a strongly opinionated minority. Here it is a very interesting paper Can ignorance promote democracy? in which the authors try to demonstrate that, for a wide range of conditions, a strongly opinionated minority can dictate group choice, but the presence of uninformed individuals spontaneously inhibits this process, returning control to the numerical majority.
Remembering that:
The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd; indeed in view of the silliness of the majority of mankind, a widespread belief is more likely to be foolish than sensible.
Bertrand Russell
